Thought I'd make a thread for random anime discussion, since it's come up a couple times in the c-box. I'm always looking for stuff that matches my interests. So if you watch something particularly good. Mention it here (Quick summery please) along with why you thought it was good. I'll probably watch it and comment on it Wink

My anime interests (I tend to be picky):
Anything having to do with dragons (Frowny face)
Battle of minds (Code Geass, Death Note)
Non-repetitive Special abilities or magic (Alice Academy, Claymore)
Comical random nonsense (Bobobo, Excel Saga)

I tend not to like mech/space, but if it's good i'll look into it.

(Warning: watch english dubs at the risk of you own sanity and ears. Except bobobo)
Code Geass (2 full seasons as of today)
My rating: 10/10 (OMGBBQ Awesome)
Summary: In the future, the Brittanian Empire conquers Japan, turning it into section 11. Lelouche, an ex-prince of Brittania with astounding intellect acquires the ability to command anyone, and uses this to start a Japanese resistance group.
My comments: I lost a lot of sleep over this one thanks to it's tendency towards cliffhangers and suspence, there's only one part that I didn't like. It's presented in a way that leaves you guessing his plans, and has lots of surprises. Highly recommended.

Death Note (2 full seasons)
My rating: 9/10
Summery: A young man by the name of light aquires a book that allows him to kill anyone by writing their name in it. He starts to "Pass judgement" on criminals, and has to keep his cover hidden from a extremely intelligent detective.
My comments: Quite awesome, some of the methods used are impressive. Also has a large amount of suspense, and it's very hard to predict (But still fun to guess)

Alice Acedemy (1 season, 2nd season coming)
My rating: 8/10
Summery: A young girl follows her friend to an academy for people with alices (special powers), discovering that she has an alice, which is a special power. The anime follows her adventures there.
My comments: Lots of special abilities mixed in with romance, adventure, comedy, and mystery/drama. It's a nice story, if nothing else.

Bobobo bobo bobobo
My rating 7/10
Summary: Cannot be described. I stopped trying after the bobobo gondala tour attack.
My comments: It frequently makes fun of common anime trends, and is completely random at times. It made me laugh, so it succeeded Razz

Excel Saga (1 season)
My Rating: 9/10
Summary: Random funny gag anime. It has a somewhat consistant story, but the anime type and style changes every episode. (Sports anime, Youth romance, Horror, things like that)
My comments: Gets quite funny, and quickly gets more and more hilarious.

Syrinia

Wolf's Rain
My Rating: 10/10
Summary: In a post-apocalyptic future where humans live in large domed cities surrounded by wasteland, wolves are believed to have been extinct for 200 years, but some wolves still remain. These wolves live by disguising themselves as humans to survive.

Wolf's Rain is the story of four wolves, Kiba, Tsume, Hige, and Toboe, who will follow the scent of the lunar flower on a quest to find paradise.
My Comments: Great series, I absolutely loved it, and until this day it has been one of the best anime shows I have ever seen. My favorite character is, "Blue," and I've watched this series about 4 times (that's how good it is). I would recommend it to anyone.

Sailor Moon
My Rating: 8/10
Summary: A thousand years ago, our moon was home to a great civilization ruled by Queen Serenity. Everything was peaceful, until the arrival of the evil Queen Beryl. To conquer the moon, Queen Beryl unleashed the awesome power of the Negaforce. Although her world was destroyed, Queen Serenity’s last hope was the power of the Imperium Silver Crystal and the Crescent Moon Wand. Frozen in Moon Beam Crystals, the queen sent the Moon Princess and the children of the moon to the future on Earth, their memories lost to them all. The queen’s cat advisors, Luna and Artemis, must find the princess so she will at last be safe. And so, our story begins...
My Comments: Great show, I've been watching this since I was very young and I still continue to love it. Of course, the Japanese version is always better than the English version, but I find both of them quite interesting. Sailor Mercury is my favorite one of them and has always been. Of course, I will not give it a 10/10 rating, because they could have done so much more with this series, I still recommend it to everyone though.

Kannazuki No Miko
My Rating: 10/10
Summary: Himeko Kurusugawa is a clumsy girl whose mundane life changes when she crosses paths with Chikane, the most popular girl in school. When an otherworldly monster invasion ruins Himeko's 16th birthday and leaves her injured, Chikane steps in to take care of her, and lets Himeko recuperate at her mansion. Himeko soon learns that she and Chikane are the two miko (priestesses) who must protect the world from Orochi, a legendary eight-headed beast that takes the form of eight people—one of which has already attacked. However, Himeko's childhood friend Souma is also one of Orochi's manifestations, but has aligned himself with the forces of good. Now Himeko and her friends must protect the world from Orochi.
My Comments: Awesome series! I can't really come up with any word that could describe how great this series is. I mean, the topic isn't really what caught me on as much as the friendship and love between the two girls (Chikane and Himeko). It's such a lovely anime, containing a mixture of both fighting scenes and scenes that'll put you on the verge of tears. One of my favorite animes, I definetely recommend it 100%

Pokemon
My Rating: 10/10
Summary: Pokémon is the story of a young boy named Ash Ketchum. Finally having reached the age of 10, he receives his first Pokémon from Professor Oak and sets out on his Pokémon Journey. Along for the ride are his best friends: Misty, Brock, Tracey, May, Max, and Dawn. Together, they journey through the Kanto, Orange, Johto, Hoenn, Battle Frontier and Sinnoh Leagues. Ash takes every opportunity to capture a Pokémon, Misty trains Pokémon of the Water type while Brock prefers Rock types. Tracey travels around sketching Pokémon. May started her journey for the sights and not the Pokémon but then decided to enter Pokémon Contests. Although Max has no Pokémon, he helps the group out with his handy PokéNav skills so as not to get lost but they still do from time to time. Dawn travels around to compete in contests like her mother did years ago.
My Comments: Pokemon being the show I have always loved and my favorite for all my life, I would definetely recommend it. Now, the Pokemon I am referring to is the old version, the one with 101 pokemon, not the new version that has about a million new species. They ruined it completely when they did that, but the old version, definetely a must watch.

Digimon: Digital Monsters
Rating: 8/10
Summary: Seven kids at summer camp are mysteriously transported to another reality, where they are befriended by a group of strange creatures who call themselves "Digimon," Digital Monsters. can they figure out what exactly are Digimon and how they got there?
My Comments: Digimon seemed to me to be a remake of Pokemon, but in another way. This is what got me interested in it in the first place. I began to watch it and quickly grew to like it. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys battle with creatures, sort of like the Pokemon-style, but these can actually talk. Now, I can't give it a 10/10 rating, because first it seemed to be a copy of Pokemon, and second, it interested me, but never to the extent of becoming one of my all time favorites.

Teen Titans
Rating: 10/10
Summary: The Teen Titans are five heroes under one roof. Their names: Robin, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy They live in a large tower in the shape of a T that they call Titan Tower. No secret identities. No school. Just superheroes being superheroes. They must go up against their arch nemesis, Slade, and his evil minions. What he really plans to do is unknown but one thing's for sure... he's an evil madman.
My Comments: Teen Titans is one of my all time favorites, and a very well made series. I absolutely love it, and I was actually obsessed with it for quite some time a while back. My favorite character is, "Raven," and I would definetely recommend this anime to anyone looking for a comedy yet action-filled anime.

The romance stories in sailor moon are amazing, the fight scenes aren't that great though. I actually started skipping the fights so i could get to the story faster Wink

Wolfs rain i watched a couple episodes, but never got into it. I might check it out again.

Definately will check out Kannazuki No Miko.

I always liked digimon more, since it focused more on the relationships between digimon and human and such, but that's just me Razz
